Thanks for the Fish

I would tell you that everything’s going to be okay, but right now I just can’t promise you a damn thing.

Flower Child Pajamas and All

You know, before I moved here, I would've told you
that a good morning was defined by the way
you drank your coffee when you first got out of bed,
not the work on your computer or the leaves of the tree
changing color and falling out in the back yard.

I would have smiled and remarked that using the same
purple coffee mug gave the milk painted espresso
just a little more meaning while the two scoops of sugar
made the day seem sweeter than it ever actually is -
and I'd have laughed as we agreed that would be okay.

But now that I'm here and the world seems so different,
it's not about how you take your brown beans or even
the creamer inside - no, it's really not like that at all.

Really, life is a skinny vanilla latte, with warm milk.
perfect fluffy foam, and just a hint of something to taste.
And your day is what you make of it, especially
if you walk one foot in front of the other all day long,
like the rest of us do - the price of the sedan in the garage
and the buffet next to the bar make no difference at all.

Breathe Some into Me

When you finally learn how to withstand the hardships you've spent so long creating for yourself you will have the power to turn hate into something beautiful. And when you figure that out, I desperately hope that you'll find the time time to teach me.

The Fountain of Youth Has been Discovered!

No one ever said you had to grow up. Fondly remembering your memories can you keep you as young as you want.

With the Changing Tides

I stopped wondering where you are, only to begin asking why you left in the first place.

Tears of a Shooting Star

I will continue to shine for you for all of Time. Bright enough to blind him to make him pay for splitting our paths so soon. I will continue to shine for you for all of Time. Bright enough for you to make it back, if you want. I will continue to shine for you for all of Time. Bright enough for every other star out there to be jealous enough to be put back in her place. Darling, I will burn so bright that they never know what hit them, bright enough for you to always see where you are going, bright enough to outshine the sun you love so much.

Thanks to Television

The whole world is watching when you tell them you will win and when you play so hard you're both covered in fresh cuts and scrapes. Every pair of eyes is following your every move when you burn their homes and their schools. Don't you know, we're all tuned in when you throw dirt in their faces and spew those awful phrases under your breath. The whole world is watching, just be careful, the whole world is always watching.

Kind Wishes for the Forgotten

It’s not very late but the stars are out, shining brighter than ever, and my midnight angel has taken her place in the sky. I am really not sure where you are, but I know you are probably watching tv with your family and getting ready for another night alone. Dreams are going to flood your mind peacefully as playful ghosts protect you from shadows playing each other foolishly night after night. I know we don’t talk all that much anymore but I still hope that all is well and soon you will be tucked safely between memories and soft sheets. Sleep well darling, and I hope that you wake to only wonderful people and beautiful scenes.

Twisted Light

Darkness enters slowly,
tears fall quietly, the hopelessness
is beginning to fade now.

Trick or Treating with Memories

This year Halloween will be different. I will smile at darkness and giggle at thunder. I'll throw my head back and cast spells on the stars. I might kill off the ghost living in your room down the hall and melt the witch who keeps coming by to borrow a cup of tears here and a spoonful of blood there. Maybe I'll put banshees out of work because without you here to hold me in your arms the pain is far too much to bear and my screams are worse than all of theirs all put together. It might be fun to scare away vampires without all of Hollywood's tricks and haunt the zombies so much that they forget what they do, believe and eat. This Halloween will be different than the rest.

Maybe, just maybe you'll show up at my front door once again. Or perhaps it'll be better just because it's somewhere new.
